SCU (Sensor Control Unit)
3.9.1
SCU Overview and Features
The Sensor Control Unit (referred to as "SCU" hereinafter) is the block that provides control of capturing output
data from the external sensor information.
It offers the following features.
(1) Sensor Interface Function
Analog Input (High Performance ADC) x 2 channels
Successive approximation ADC, 10 bit resolution, 32 kS/s maximum sampling rate
Analog Input (Low Power ADC) x 4 channels
Successive approximation ADC, 10 bit resolution, 32 kS/s maximum sampling rate (when operating one
channel)
SPI (master) x 1 channel
Uses the PrimeCell Synchronous Serial Port (PL022) from ARM Limited; supports a maximum transfer
frequency of 6.5 MHz
Allows the use of three Slave Selection signals (CS)
I2C (master) x 2 channels
Fast Mode support (Maximum 393.9 kbps)
For details on each sensor interface, refer to the Chapters of each function.
(2) Sequencer Functions for capturing sensor data
The Sequencer performs the following sequence of processes.
Using the designated time intervals as a trigger, it intermittently captures the sensor data from the sensor I/F.
Performs arithmetic processing (MATH_PROC) to the sensor data and stores the results in the FIFO within the
SCU.
When storing the calculation results in the FIFO, it adds time stamp information of the time the data was captured.
When the sequencer within the SCU is not used, the CPU can directly control the SPI, I2C, and ADC.
The CPU Block (Ultra Small & Ultra Low Power CPU) is customized as a System for APB Peripheral control
Contains 8 KByte (32bit x 2048words) of SRAM for commands of the internal sequencer and 2 KByte (32bit x
512words) of SRAM for data.
(3) FIFO Functions for Storing Sensor Data
The FIFO has 27 partitions, which are classified into four types.
Decimation Partitions
Normal Sensor Partitions
Virtual Sensor Partitions
(4 per each set) x 2 sets
x 8
x 10
