Addressing
If you have not yet assigned addresses to the DP slaves, you have the choice of:
linear addressing
P-page addressing, or
Q-page addressing
In the STEP 5 application program, you address the distributed I/Os in linear mode or
with P-page or Q-page addressing. Define one of these three addressing options for
each individual DP master.
You can also address the distributed I/O system via the FB IM308C.
Note, however:You can access inputs with either linear or page addressing and via the
FB IM308C. The choice of addressing for outputs is exclusive: you must select either
only linear/page addressing or addressing via the FB IM308C.
The addressing options are explained in detail in Section 9.1.
Number of
You require the number of the IM 308-C for page addressing or addressing via the
IM 308-C
FB IM308C.
This number is a unique identifier for each IM 308-C, which you can then use in the
STEP 5 program to access the corresponding pages and thus the inputs/outputs. The
number of the IM 308-C is always a multiple of 16.
Multiprocessor
You must check the box for multiprocessor operation:
mode
if you want to address multiple IM 308-C modules from within one CPU, or
if the address space occupied by the FB IM308C has already been used for CPs
and IPs in the programmable controller.
COM ET 200 Windows prompts for the first address in the range that the FB IM308C
should use to address the distributed I/O (DP window). See Section 9.7 for more
information on using the FB IM308C.
Error-reporting
The error-reporting mode defines how the CPU reacts to an error in the distributed
mode
I/O system. The options are PEU (powerfail in expansion unit), QVZ (time-out) or
none.
See Section 11.2 for a detailed description of all three options.
If you select PEU or QVZ, the setting is valid for all slaves assigned to the DP
master. Note, however, that you can deactivate PEU or QVZ for individual slaves
during initial operation, for example (switch in the "Slave parameters" dialog box).

Caution
If you set the error-reporting mode to "none", diagnosis with the
FB IM308C is the only way that you can detect an error in the
distributed I/O system from within the application program.
Consequently, we strongly recommend that the error-reporting
mode be set to "none" only for initial operation.
