Upgrading the Firmware

Run the Firmware Update Utility each time you upgrade or replace the hardware
in your server except for add-in boards, hard drives, and RAM.
The program updates the following controllers one at a time:
Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)
Hot Swap Controller (HSC)
Chassis Bridge Controller (CBC)
You can run the utility interactively by providing commands through the EFI
shell, or you can run it in non-interactive mode by supplying the command with
any options.
Running the Firmware Update Utility
The following procedure shows how to use the non-interactive method to upgrade
the firmware with the Firmware Update Utility. In the non-interactive method,
you enter the command as well as any necessary command-line options.
1. Boot to the EFI Shell. For information on how to boot the server, refer to
"Power-on Sequence and Power-on Self Test (POST)".
2. Copy the following files to a diskette.
FWUpdate.EFI
IPMI.efi
<name>.hex
IPMIdriver.txt
Firmwareupdate.txt
<name>.txt
Where <name> represents the hex image for the controller being updated.
For example, the files lnbmc11.hex and lnbmc11.txt represent the firmware
and release note files, respectively for BMC release 11. Make a note of the
name of the HEX file as you will need it later.
3. Update the firmware by running either the FWUpdate Utility command
line interface or through the GUI interface. See the specific sections below
for the detailed procedures.
4. If you need to update the firmware for additional controllers, repeat steps 1
through 4.
