Chapter 8: Maintenance
3.
Reagent, Check Standard, and dilution water tubes. Ensure that the ends of the reagent, Check
Standard, and dilution water tubes extend into their respective liquids. If the Fail Safe accessory is
installed, check the level sensors to ensure that they are operating properly.
4.
Flush, if necessary. Ensure that the tubing from the reagent, Check Standard, and dilution water
containers is full of liquid, and that there are no large bubbles in those tubes. If any of the tubes contain
large bubbles, perform a Flush.
5.
Check calibration. Analyze one or more Check Standards to confirm that the Analyzer is operating
properly and that its calibration is accurate

Preparing the Oxidizer Solution

The following figure shows how the strength of 30% (W/V) sodium persulfate solution decreases with time at 5
°C, 25 °C and 40 °C. These data were obtained with reagent grade sodium persulfate in low-TOC reagent water,
while the solution was stored in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles of the type used with the InnovOx
Laboratory TOC Analyzer.

About 90% of the initial strength of the oxidizer reagent is retained for 30 days at 25 °C, but less than 1.5 days at
40 °C. Therefore, the oxidizer reagent should be replaced more often when it is stored at temperatures over
25 °C.

The Analyzer can be set to automatically perform the Check Standard measurements.
