8.2 Firmware update
Each communication-capable circuit protection device has the possibility of a firmware
update. This can be carried out via the device menu.
The updates are transferred to the 7KN Powercenter 1000 via the Ethernet cable. The
terminal devices however, receive their update via wireless transmission from the
7KN Powercenter 1000. As a result of wireless communication, it can result in longer wait
times. The progress of the update(s) can be checked in powerconfig or restarted in the event
of an error. Set parameters are maintained in the devices after a firmware update.
The duration of a firmware update depends on the capacity utilization of the radio channels.
Usually an update of a 7KN Powercenter 1000 takes approx. 2 minutes. It takes about 5
minutes per terminal device, although it may take 10-15 minutes for the 3NA COM fuse.
Note
All devices must be permanently powered during the firmware update for it to be successful.
In the case of the 3NA COM fuse, a continuous current flow of at least 10 A through the fuse
must also be guaranteed.
