The ATS should be isolated from strong electromagnetic fields and electrical noise
produced by electrical devices such as:
Elevators
Copy machines
Air conditioners, large fans
Large electric motors
Radio and TV transmitters
High frequency security devices
High-load medical devices (e.g., imaging, defibrillators, etc.)
GE requires the use of a UPS device with the ATS, otherwise, improper shut down of
the unit could result from a power outage.
Connect only the ATS power cord to the UPS. Do not connect any other devices to the
UPS. Connecting other devices may shorten UPS run times.
A properly grounded duplex wall receptacle should be provided for the UPS. The
wall receptacle must be installed in an approved junction box. Use only a 3-prong,
polarized, medical-grade wall receptacle to accept the UPS 3-prong polarized power
cord plug.
Receptacle wiring must satisfy all applicable IEC and UL specifications, applicable
building codes, and local electrical inspection regulations. For international wall
receptacles, wiring must comply with all internal standards agencies within the
specific country. The overall system AC current load on the branch circuit supplying
power to the UPS must not exceed 80% of the AC current rating for the circuit.
WARNING
Connect the UPS to the ATS(s) only. Do not connect printers or
other devices to the UPS, as such devices may shorten estimated
run-times. If AC line power is not restored before UPS run-time is
exceeded, the ATS shuts down and patients will not be monitored.
