Negative pole grounded via protective conductor jumper (MPE), workpiece
grounded, transformer housing has a low--resistance connection to
welding equipment (practical case).
There will be circulating currents through the mains supply line and further-
more through the welding equipment.
Case 4

Negative pole grounded via protective conductor jumper (MPE), workpiece not
grounded, several electrode guns simultaneously weld the workpiece (whose neg-
ative pole is also grounded).
There will be circulating currents through the "neighboring" electrode
guns.
More circulating currents are present if the workpiece is additionally
grounded (cf. Case 3).
