If the machine has cutting motor control version 2,
the machine chassis will be connected to GND and
if the machine has cutting motor control version
1, GND will not be connected to the chassis. The
three microswitches that are mounted on the pedal
plate were disconnected when the connector was
unplugged and if the voltage supply then returned,
the fault can be found in the pedal plate or in the
brown, white or green cable. If the fault remains
when the connector is unplugged, go to item 3
below.
If the chassis is connected to GND (cutting mo-
tor control version 2), there may be a short circuit
from the orange cable to metal. If the P-brake is
not activated during the test, it could be the brown
cable that is shorting to GND. Couple together the
connector again and activate the P-brake.
If the fault then disappears with the P-brake
activated and returns when the P-brake is not
activated, it will be the brown lead that is short
circuited. The P-brake is connected so that the
microswitch is open when the P-brake is activated.
The other two microswitches on the pedal plate are
connected so that they close when the forward or
reverse pedal is activated. If the +5 V supply dis-
appears when one of these pedals is activated, it
will be the cables from these switches that is short
circuited (white and green leads). It is probably
not one of these leads, as neither the forward or
reverse pedal is activated during the CST test and
the switches are then open.

The speed potentiometer is connected to +5 V
and GND. If the supply returns after unplugging
the connector that couples the potentiometer, the
potentiometer is faulty (internal short circuit). If the
fault persists when the connector is disconnected
from the potentiometer, go to item 4 below.
