Managing the device
Overview
Device management includes monitoring the operating status of devices and configuring their running
parameters.
The configuration tasks in this document are order independent. You can perform these tasks in any
order.
Storage media include Flash and CF card. Different devices support different storage media. For more
information, see About the HP 830 Series PoE+ Unified Wired-WLAN Switch and HP 10500/7500 20G
Unified Wired-WLAN Module Configuration Guides. The examples in this chapter uses the CF card.
Performing quick configuration
You can use the quick configuration command to start a quick configuration process, which guides you
to complete basic parameter settings (such as device name, system time, VLAN, IP address). You must
finish all settings in a quick configuration process. Otherwise, no settings are saved.
Configuration guidelines
A quick configuration process can be terminated if you press Ctrl+C or when the specified timeout
•
timer (30 seconds) expires.
The default value of each configuration item is displayed in the brackets. If no value exists in the
•
brackets, the configuration item has no default setting. If a value exists in the brackets, pressing
Enter validates the default setting.
You can configure some parameters multiple times. In this case, the system prompts "press <cr> to
•
exit". If you press Enter, you exit the configuration of the current item and go to the next
configuration item. For example, you can create multiple VLAN interfaces, and configure their IP
addresses and masks. If you press Enter, VLAN interface configuration is ended, and the system
goes to the next configuration item.
Configuration procedure
To start quick configuration:
Step
1.
Enter system view.
2.
Perform quick configuration.
Configuring the device name
A device name identifies a device in a network and works as the user view prompt at the CLI. For
example, if the device name is Sysname, the user view prompt is <Sysname>.
