Storing food in the MasterFresh zone

The MasterFresh drawer is divided into
two areas that can be used for storing
food. The optimum humidity level can
be set, depending on the type of food
being stored.
^ Touch the sensor for the left- or
right-hand zone in the MasterFresh
drawer so that it is highlighted in
yellow.
The sensors for the types of food you
wish to store now appear:
Foods that require high humidity
include:
– Vegetables and fruit
Foods that require a dry atmosphere
include:
– Meat, fish and diary products
^ Touch the sensor for the type of food
that you wish to store in the
MasterFresh zone selected.
You cannot store foods that like high
humidity alongside foods that prefer a
dry atmosphere. However, you can
store several foods from the same
humidity/dry group at the same time.
^ You can deselect the type of food by
touching the relevant sensor again.
Using the refrigerator efficiently
Depending on your selection, the
MasterFresh zone will achieve the
optimum humidity level for the food you
are storing.
The temperature in the MasterFresh
zone is fixed at 1.5°C.
Foods that prefer a higher humidity
include:
– Freshly picked vegetables, lettuce,
herbs, mushrooms, cabbages and
fruit.
Please take into account that high
humidity is only achieved and effective
if the food is stored unwrapped or
loosely wrapped.
Foods that prefer a dry atmosphere
include:
– fresh fish, shellfish, meat, poultry,
sausages, dairy products and
specialty salads.
Please note that foods rich in protein
deteriorate faster than others.
Shellfish, for example, deteriorates
faster than fish, and fish deteriorates
faster than meat.
Always keep these foods covered or
wrapped.
Exception: Meat The surface of the
meat dries out slightly, helping to
prevent the growth of bacteria, which
results in the meat lasting longer. To
prevent the risk of bacterial
cross-contamination and meat
deteriorating, do not let one type of
meat come into direct contact with
another type.
