6.2 Initiating a Multipoint Conference
You can initiate a multipoint conference using the MCU or built-in MCU.

Initiating a Multipoint Conference Using the MCU
Before initiating a conference, add the participants to the address book and register the GK server
on the DP300 web interface, then choose System Settings > Conference > Normal and set
Multipoint call mode to Hold call or OFF.
Step 1 Tap

l All Sites: indicates the sites recorded in the local and network address books. If you select

MCU: As an indispensable component in a multipoint conference, the MCU is responsible
for multiple functions, such as site access, video exchange, audio mixing, data processing,
and signaling interaction.
Built-in MCU: With the built-in MCU feature, when initiating a conference, the DP300
can work independently, without involving the other components on the videoconferencing
network in conference scheduling. A DP300 with the built-in MCU function can initiate a
multipoint conference by implementing functions such as site access, video exchange,
audio mixing, data processing, and signaling interaction. In this case, the DP300 functions
as a mini MCU. To provide the built-in MCU function, the DP300 requires a specified
license. Contact Huawei post-sales engineers to purchase the license.
The DP300 built-in MCU supports the access from four HD video sites and three audio-
only sites simultaneously in a non-encrypted conference and the access from four HD video
sites simultaneously in an encrypted conference.
