2.1.3
Water Path - Steam
Refer to Figure 030-1.
If Heating with steam is selected and the steam valve (Item 3) is opened,
the steam pump (Item 7) takes in water from the water tank (Item 4) and
pumps it via the pressure relief valve (Item 9) through the steam heater (Item
11). Here the water is heated and dispensed from the spout as steam until
the steam valve is closed again.
If Heating with steam is selected alone, frothing can be carried out for up to
approximately 3 minutes.
If Heating with steam is selected together with Coffee or Espresso, then
frothing can be carried out for approximately 18 seconds.

Water Path - Residual Water/Steam
Refer to Figure 030-1.
To ensure that residual water or steam does not leak under pressure from the
coffee or steam/hot-water outlets, pressure is released from all water paths
after every serving. The ceramic valve (Item 1) opens the water path to the
decompression vessel (Item 5), and the steam condenses here and flows into
the drip tray (Item 6). The steam valve (Item 3) also switches to open the path
to the decompression vessel when the steam function is switched off.

Water Path - Rinsing
Refer to Figure 030-1.
The Rinsing function can be selected to clean the brew unit and milk frother
(cappuccinatore).
If Rinsing is selected, the brew unit (Item 2) moves down. The coffee/hot-
water pump (Item 10) takes in water via the flow meter (Item 8) from the
water tank (Item 4) and pumps it through the coffee/hot-water heater (Item
12) and the decompression vessel (Item 5) to the drip tray (Item 6). The
ceramic valve then closes the water path to the decompression vessel, and
the water flows through the brew unit.
If Rinsing is selected and the steam valve (Item 3) is opened, the steam
pump (Item 7) takes in water from the water tank (Item 4) and pumps it via
the damping element (Item 9) through the steam heater (Item 11). The
discharged water can be used to clean the milk frother (cappuccinatore) until
the steam valve is closed again.
