1. Operation
Pressing is performed only in trim mode (trimming performed), and is not performed in
through mode (trimming not performed).
a. Moving Stopper
At time of initialization executed at the start of copying in saddle finisher's booklet mode,
M103 goes ON to move the stopper to a specific position suited to each booklet size. In trim
mode, a specific period of time after the entrance sensor (PS101) detects the leading edge
(folded side), the stopper motor (M103) goes ON once again to execute fine adjustment so
that all booklets will be finished to the same dimension regardless of the number of sheets
they contain.
Thereafter, the folded side of the booklet is hit against the stopper, thus determining the
cutting position.
In the case of wide paper and in through mode, the stopper is not moved for fine
adjsutment.
b. Pressing the Booklet
When the feeding sensor (PS102) detects the leading edge (folded side) of a booklet, the
feeding stops a specific period thereafter; at the same time, the press motor (M105) goes ON
so that the pressing plate locks the booklet in place.
The booklet is held in place until cutting ends, at which time the booklet is released and
the stopper is retuned to a specific position selected for each specific booklet size.
c. Releasing the Press
When the booklet has been cut, M105 goes ON once again to release the booklet. At the
same time, the stopper release motor (M104) goes ON to start releasing the stopper.
M105 goes OFF as soon as the pressing HP sensor (PS105) detects home position, and
returns to standby state.
d. Releasing the Stopper
(1) Trim Mode
When cutting ends, M104 remains ON until the stopper release HP sensor (PS104) goes
OFF, at which time the stopper is shifted down to form a path for delivery of the book-
let.
(2) Through Mode
M104 goes ON to shift down the stopper as soon as the feeding motor (M101) goes ON,
thus forming a path for delivery of the booklet.
e. Setting the Stopper
When the deliver sensor (PS108) detects the trailing edge (trimmed side) of the booklet,
M104 goes ON once again; it goes OFF when the stopper release HP sensor (PS104) goes
ON, thus shifting the stopper upright.
f. Moving to Stopper Home Position
When the last booklet has been delivered in the stacker unit, M103 goes ON once again to
execute a home position search. HP is identified in relation to the activation of the stopper
HP sensor (PS103).
