Setting the Resolution

You can change the resolution for the current scanning operation
in the main dialog box by selecting a resolution from the list or by
typing in a value up to 6400 dpi. The maximum resolution you
can select is 12800 dpi. Changes made here override the resolution
setting in the Destination dialog box.

Specifying Source and Target Image Sizes

The Source values indicate the size of the area that is displayed or
selected in the Preview window.
The Target values indicate what size the image will be when it is
output.
Note:
The Source and Target size settings are closely related to the Resolution
setting. If you change these settings arbitrarily, the resulting image may
not be what you expect.
