    2. Technology Overview The Paper Feeder (PF) is an option to be installed on the bottom of a printer. The printer supports 4-cassette Paper Feeder. Print paper flow is shown below: The Paper Feeder Driver performs serial communication with the DC Controller to control the operation sequence. For signal flow of the Paper Feeder Driver, see the figure shown below.

    2. Technology Pickup/Feed Control Pickup/feed control of the Paper Feeder uses the same mechanism as printer. Rollers in the Paper Feeder are operated through the Pickup Motor (M101) of the printer via gears. Pickup/feed control sequence of the Paper Feeder is shown below: 1.
  • Page 15: Cassette Lift-Up Operation

    2. Technology Cassette Lift-up Operation Paper inside a cassette is lifted up by the Lifting Plate. When the Lifting Plate is rising, the PF Lifter Motor (M1600) is controlled to keep the paper surface steady so that pickup can be performed stably.

    2. Technology Cassette Size Detection/Cassette Detection Cassette paper size detection and cassette detection of the Paper Feeder are performed in the same way as the printer. The Media Size Switch detects the size of paper being loaded and presence/absence of a cassette. The switch consists of 3 microswitches, and the width is detected in accordance with the combination of ON/OFF.
