The counter can be initialized to count from a settable non-zero value InitialValue. The counter value
is set to this initial value by activating the RESET input.
The maximum permitted counter value is defined by MaxValue.
The three possibilities after reaching the maximum counted value are:
•
Stops counting and activates a steady overflow indication for the next count
•
Rolls over to zero and activates a steady overflow indication for the next count
•
Rolls over to zero and activates a pulsed overflow indication for the next count
The pulsed overflow output remains active until the first count after rolling over to zero, as illustrated
in

The ERROR output is activated as an indicator of setting the counter limits and/or initial value
setting(s) greater than the maximum value. The counter stops counting the input and all the outputs
except ERROR are forced to zero. The error condition remains until valid settings for counter limits
and/or initial value are applied.
The function can be blocked through the BLOCK input. While BLOCK is active, status changes on
INPUT are not counted and outputs remain in their previous states. However, the counter can still be
