Troubleshooting

If you've experienced any of the following difficulties while using your
phone, use this troubleshooting to help you remedy the problem.
Should any problem persist, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Symptom
You hear five short error
beeps when you press (LINE 1)
or (LINE 2).
You hear no dial tone.
The telephone always connects
with the wrong number or
doesn't connect at all, even
though the number you dial is
correct.
The phone doesn't redial
correctly.
The handset does not ring.
You hear interference during
conversation.
You hear a beep every second
during conversation.
You hear a beep every three
seconds.
You hear five short beeps
during resetting the digital
security code.

Remedy
• Replace the handset to the base unit and reset the
digital security code (page 21).
• Make sure you set up the base unit correctly (page 6).
• Move the handset closer to the base unit.
• Make sure the telephone line cord is securely
connected to the telephone outlet.
• Make sure the battery is fully charged (page 10).
• Make sure the dial mode is set correctly (page 9).
• Make sure the number you last dialed (including the
tone and pause digits, if used) is fewer than 32 digits.
• Make sure the last dialed number is really the one you
want to dial.
• Set the RING ON/BATT SAVE switch on the handset
to RING ON.
• Replace the handset to the base unit and reset the
digital security code (page 21).
• The battery may have little or no power. Charge the
battery for more than 10 hours (page 10).
• Make sure you set up the base unit correctly
(page 6).
• Move the handset closer to the base unit.
• While you're storing a speed dialing number, you
can't receive any calls.
• Move the handset closer to the base unit.
• Press(CHANNEL) on the handset for a channel that
gives better reception (page 15).
• Place the base unit away from noise sources (page 6).
• Extend the antenna of the base unit vertically.
• It is an out-of-range alarm. Move the handset closer
to the base unit within 15 seconds .
• It is a battery low alarm. Charge the battery for more
than 10 hours (page 10).
• Make sure you press a number between 001 and 399
(page 21).
