The transceiver is normally supplied from the factory set for a nominal +30 dBm RF power
output; this is the maximum transmitter output power allowed under FCC/IC rules. The
power must be decreased from this level if the antenna system gain exceeds 6 dBi. The
maximum allowable RF level from the transceiver is dependent on the gain of the antenna
and feedline loss. In all cases, the maximum EIRP from the antenna must not exceed 36
dBm. Contact GE Multilin if assistance is required in determining the maximum output
power setting.
SAFETY / EARTH GROUNDING
DGT equipment is equipped with an internal surge suppression module to protect against
nearby lightning discharges or spikes on the antenna feedline. To minimize the chances of
lightning and surge damage, a good safety ground is required. This ground must bond the
antenna system, the DGT unit, power supply, and all connected data equipment to a
single-point ground.
Equipment grounds should be bonded together and connected to the facility's main
ground system for primary power. The objective is to create a single-point ground system,
keeping all grounds leads as short as possible.
