Braking Module Booksize
7.1.1
Description
The Braking Module Booksize is always used together with an external braking resistor. It has the
following tasks:
• Controlled stop of the drives in the event of a power failure
(e.g. emergency retraction or EMERGENCY OFF Category 1)
• Limiting of DC-link voltage for brief periods of generator operation (e.g. if the regenerative
feedback capability of the Line Module is deactivated, not adequately dimensioned, or
restricted due to brief line interruption)
The Braking Module includes the necessary power electronics and control. When the Braking
Module is in operation, the power which is fed back into the DC link is dissipated via an external
braking resistor.

The cable lengths between the Braking Module and braking resistor is limited to a maximum of
10 m.
