Safe Speed Monitor (SSM)

Definition according to EN 61800-5-2:

"The SSM function supplies a safe

output signal to indicate whether the

motor speed is below a specified limit

S S M is a pure signaling f unction

Unlike other Safety Integrated functions, exceeding the SSM limit value does not result in a

drive-autonomous stop response.

Ex ample of how the function can be used

A centrifuge may only be filled below a

velocity defined by the user.

SSM is activated by configuring the Safety Integrated

Extended Functions.

The converter safely monitors the centrifuge speed

and enables the process to advance to the next step

using the "Status SSM" status bit.
