RF-chip/baseband problem
In case of a TX problem and no 897.4MHz signal at R717 it is necessary to check the voltages and
signals the RF-chip needs for proper function. Therefore check the following:
check VR1A 4.7VDC at C516
-
check VR2 2.8VDC at C513
-
check VR3 2.8VDC at C522
-
check VR4 2.8VDC at C519
-
check VR5 2.8VDC at C517
-
check VR6 2.8VDC at C521
-
check VR7 2.8VDC at both sides of L505
-
check VrefRF01 1.35VDC at C524
-
check TXC at C528 (note that amplitude varies depending on chosen TX power
-
level between 0.5Vpp and 1.9Vpp) and TXIQ-signals at C529/530:
If one of the above mentioned signals is missing, most probably UEME D250 is responsible
for the problem. As UEME is underfilled, this part is not changeable. In case the signals are ok,
continue below.
For proper function of the RF-chip N500 some further signals from UPP D370 are needed,
therefore check the following:
check TXP at J200. TXP appears equal to Vtxb_900 (shown on page 17), but it´s
-
amplitude is 1.8Vpp.
Due to missing testpoints unfortunately it is not possible to check the signals on the RF-bus
and RF-chip reset, all coming from UPP. If you suppose that the RF-chip causes problems
related to these signals, exchange N500 using BGA rework system and retest the unit. If the
problem remains, most probably UPP D370 is defect. As D370 is underfilled, it is not possible
to rework this part.
