Chapter 5: Bluetooth does not work
Pre-check
If customer claims that Bluetooth does not work, first of all try to initialize the phone with Phoenix
and run Bluetooth BER test in connection with BT testbox JBT-9. If no BT testbox is available, a
rough functionality test can be done by pairing two BT phones and exchange some data.
If this is not possible, check by using Phoenix that the correct Bluetooth address is stored in the
flash component. In case the BT address is missing, perform IMEI rebuild (BT address is written
back by this procedure) and check address again. If procedure does not work, most probably the
flash D460 is defect. Exchange D460, run SW-update & IMEI rebuild and retest the unit. Remember
to tune all phone values if procedure was successful!
If BT address is ok but pairing two BT devices or BT BER test using Phoenix still does not work,
follow the repair instructions:

For a proper working Bluetooth chip D190 check the following signals:
•
Check VIO 1.8VDC at C204
•
Check Vflash1 2.8VDC at C203
•
Check 26MHz Bluetooth clock at R192:
If BTCLK at R192 is not measurable, check same signal at C193. Amplitude of signal at C193
should be ~0.3Vpp sinewave. If signal is not ok especially check D191.
If the above mentioned signals are ok but Bluetooth does not work, exchange D190 using BGA
rework system. It is not necessary to run any SW-update or IMEI rebuilt after having changed D190;
just exchange D190 and BT must work. In case the problem persists after exchanging the BT-chip,
most probably UPP D370 is responsible. UPP D370 is underfilled and therefore not changeable.
