TROUBLESHOOTING

If the starter motor will not operate.

Check
1. Battery
2. Starter motor
3. Starter relay
4. Engine starter switch
5. Wiring
NOTE:
Use the following special tool(s) in this
troubleshooting.
Pocket tester:
90890-03112
1. Battery
Battery condition
Refer to the CHAPTER 3.
Open circuit voltage
12.8 V or more at 20 C°
OK
NO
Clean the battery terminal.
Recharge or replace the
battery.

STARTING SYSTEM

2. Starter motor
Connect the positive battery terminal
starter motor lead
WARNING
A wire that is used as a jumper lead must
have at least the same capacity or more
as that of the battery lead, otherwise the
jumper lead may burn.
This check is likely to produce sparks,
therefore make sure nothing flammable is
in the vicinity.
Dose the starter motor turn ?
YES
6-4
ELEC
and
with a jumper lead

Red

NO
Repair or replace the
starter motor.
