System outline This system consists of the unit containing a DVD player, a radio, and a pre-amp, as well as the powered sub-woofer, the center speaker, and four satellite speaker units. It provides a fully functional DVD cinema system by simply connecting to a TV set.
Installation The following shows an example of the system installation. Principles of operation The system may be operated via the remote control or the buttons on the center unit, or via the menu on the screen. TVs from other manufacturers require changes to the transmittable signals before they can be used with the remote control. See page 55 for details of changing the transmittable signals.

DISPLAY MENU settings Select monitor type Most movie DVD discs are recorded for wide-screen TVs with a height/width ratio of 16:9. It is possible to optimize playback of these wide-screen TV images for viewing on a regular TV with a height/width ratio of 4:3.

Limiting playback by children This function restricts playback of DVD discs which contain violent (and other) scenes according to the level set by the user. For example, if a movie which includes violent scenes supports the parental lock feature, such scenes which you do not want to let children view can be cut or replaced with other scenes.
To temporarily release the Parental lock When you set the parental level strictly, some discs may not be played back at all. When you insert such a disc and try to play it, the Parental Lock on-screen display appears on the TV, and the unit will ask you whether you want the parental lock to be temporarily released or not.
Amplifier settings Perform amplifier settings (balance, tone, speaker size and delay time, crossover frequency, LFE (Low Frequency Effect) level and dynamic range) for the powered sub-woofer unit to obtain optimum listening performance. Note: • Before starting settings, be sure that each speaker is properly installed and your listening position is fixed, since some setting items should be changed according to your listening position with respect to the installed speakers.
Setting tone Adjust the tone (bass and treble) for the front speakers. Press SETTING. Press the 5 5 5 5 /∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ cursors until “BASS” or “TREBLE” appears on the display. • After a while, the current setting value appears. Care and handling of discs How to handle discs When handling a disc, do not touch the surface of the disc. Since discs are made of plastic, they are easily damaged. If a disc gets dirty, dusty, scratched or warped, the image sand sound will not be picked up correctly, and such a disc may cause the player to malfunction.
