Symptoms
Back of newspaper print shows through. The copy has
picked up part of an image from the wrong side of the
original.
Thin, colored objects or lines contain black spots.
White lines appear between adjacent black and
colored areas.
Unwanted dots appear in the background.
A halo effect, with dark splotchy patches, occurs in
dark areas such as black hair.
Thin, white, vertical lines appear in my copy.
I want to Reduce/Enlarge something to a specific
percentage.
I want to use Reduce/Enlarge in English sizes, but
metric sizes are displayed.

Solutions
Press the Lighter/Darker button. Press the Minus (–) button to
lighten your copy. The dot moves to the left. Press the Select/Resume
button.
Turn off TE (Text Enhancement). Press the Menu button until
TE appears on the display. Press the Plus (+) or Minus (–) button
to turn TE off and then press the Select/Resume button.
The print cartridges might need to be aligned. Press the Menu button
until Align Cartridges appears on the display. Press the
Select/Resume button. Discard the printed page when alignment
is complete.
This might occur if you're copying from a gray or pastel original.
Do one of the following:
• Press the Lighter/Darker button. Press the Minus (–) button
to lighten your copy. The dot moves to the left. Press the
Select/Resume button.
• Press the Color Intensity button. Press the Minus (–) button
to make your copy paler. The dot moves to the left. Press the
Select/Resume button.
Press the Lighter/Darker button. Press the Minus (–) button to
lighten your copy. The dot moves to the left. Press the
Select/Resume button.
Call HP Support Services. Refer to "HP Support Services" later in
this chapter for more information.
Press and hold down the Reduce/Enlarge button and then press
the Plus (+) or Minus (–) buttons until the specific percentage
appears. Press the Select/Resume button.
Press the Menu button until Copy Paper Size appears on the display.
Press the Plus (+) or Minus (–) buttons until Letter or Legal appears,
and then press the Select/Resume button.
