4 Enter the shutdown commands (see Figure 126).
–
VMware ESXi 4.0 example:
shutsys -ip 172.18.127.47 -e true
shutbackup -ip 172.18.127.47 -e true -m 1:00
shutfile -e true -f /opt/ups/shutdownESXi.sh -m 2
listshut -ip 172.18.127.47
NOTE:
Each guest operating system requires a minimum of 30 seconds to run the command file before
shutting down. The -m 1 option in the shutfile command in the example below sets one minute as the total
time allowed to run the command file before shutdown, which allows sufficient time for two guest operating
systems.
Example: shutfile -e true -f /opt/ups/shutdownESXi.sh -m 1
–
VMware ESXi 4.1 or later example:
shutsys -ip 172.18.127.47 -e true
shutbackup -ip 172.18.127.47 -e true -m 1:00
shutfile -e true -f /opt/ups/shutdownESXi41.sh -m 3
listshut -ip 172.18.127.47
NOTE:
The timer of -m option in the shutfile command should be more than the timeout value in the document
of shutdownESXi41.sh. The default timeout value is two minutes.
