1-2.DRIVE REPAIRING

1-2-1. Preparation

ESD Measures
It is necessary to check the working space ESD condition
before starting the Drive Part (BU) repairs
The ESD-resistance of BD Laser is weaker than DVD/CD Laser
To prevent ESD destruction, please make sure the working
space and human ESD.

1-2-2 BU (Optical Block) Repair Guide

BDP set series component structure is as same as conventional DVD Players.
However BD player requires precise read out functions and also secure contents Protection system.
Since above requirement, it is necessary to set/adjust BU data to EEPROM.
The following cases need Adjustments;
(1)Replace BU (MB is original)
(2)Replace MB (BU is original)
(3)Replace both BU and MB
•JIG Requirement
Digital camera (recommend with macro mode)
Barcode decoder (BDPRdec_ver3.0) installed in JIG PC's
USB memory
ESD work bench
•Procedure (all cases) Refer the diagram
Remarks:
The servo adjustment procedure will be carried out during OP data Writing.
There is no manual adjustment procedure. LD ON TIME history doesn't carry over.
Do not touch any optical block parts, Turn Table and during replacing. BD Laser diode
is very sensitive!

1-2-3. BU Check Flow [zz] ~

Press <OPEN/CLOSE>, <PLAY>,<STOP>
Inside *Service Mode Menu
Select [7] OP Check Menu
Select [3] dIOP then press 'ENTER'
BDP-S1200/BX120/S3200/BX320/S4200/S5200/BX520
Before BU Replacement
Optical Block Unit (BU) IOP check fl ow (zz) ~ [Before BU Replacement]
Enter Service Mode
and plug in AC Power
Select [8] Drive
Inside *Drive
Inside *OP Check Menu
Specifi cation dIOP
BD: ± 6mA
DVD, CD: ± 9mA
AC Power OFF
IOP out of specifi cation need BU
replacement
