System files may have been
damaged. You will need to insert a
system startup disk or the
Windows StartUp disk to restart
your computer.
Wrong memory modules were
used in the upgrade, or memory
modules were installed in the
wrong location.
Hard drive is damaged.

Solution
If possible, save all data, close all
programs, and restart your computer.
If the error message returns, you may
need to back up your data files and
use the Recovery CD. Refer to the
Recovery CD table in this chapter
for details.

Caution: Factory Restore
reformats your hard drive; all
data files will be lost.
1.
Insert a startup disk in the
disk drive.
2.
Restart your computer.
3.
At the A:> prompt, type SYS C:
and press the Enter key.
The following message is
displayed: SYSTEM
TRANSFERRED. This task
restores the system files to your
hard drive.
4.
Remove the disk from the A drive
and restart your computer.
If this procedure does not restart your
computer, call Compaq Technical
Support. Refer to your Certificate of
Warranty for details.
Verify that you installed your memory
modules correctly by calling Compaq
Technical Support. Refer to your
Certificate of Warranty for details.
Call Compaq Technical Support. Refer
to your Certificate of Warranty
for details.
