rec key
Press to start tape recording. Pressing this key during
recording initiates record-pause after leaving a no-
sound blank of about 4 seconds.

O.T.E. key
Press to start recording CD onto a tape w ith one-touch
operation.
Pressing this key during CD playback records only the
track being played onto tape. Pressing it w hile CD is in
stop state w ill record all the CD tracks onto tape.

4 and ¢ multi control keys
In the normal mode, these are used to
– skip CD tracks
– fast forw ard or rew ind tape
– select a preset radio station
In the menu mode (selected by pressing the mode key),
press these buttons to select the desired menu item. To
set or enter setting of the menu item, press the set/demo
key.

Pressing these multi control keys sw itches the dis-
play contents.

(Only w hen the TUNER input is selected)

(Only w hen the AUX input is selected)

The function of these keys returns to the normal mode
w hen they have not been operated for 20 seconds.
Standby mode
While the standby indicator is lit, a small amount of pow er is supplied to the system to back up the memory.
This is called standby mode. Under the condition, the system can be turned ON by the remote control
unit.

7 Tuning M ode key
CD, TAPE :
Press to stop a disc or tape operation.
TUNER :
Press to sw itch betw een the AUTO (auto tuning,
st ereo recept ion) and M ONO (m anual t uning,
monaural reception) modes.
Standby mode:
Press to display the clock.

) CD open/ close key
Press to open or close the CD tray.

Basic operation keys
AUX key
Press to reproduce the external source component
connected to the AUX (analog auxiliary input) jacks.
TUNER / band key
Press to select the TUNER input.
This key is also used to select the received broadcast
band.
CD 6 key
Press to select the CD input and start playback. During
CD playback, press to pause.
TAPE 2 3 key
Press to select the TAPE (cassette deck) input and
start playback of a tape. Pressing this key during tape
playback sw itches the tape transport direction.

standby/ timer indicator
Lights up w hen the unit is set to the Standby mode of
pow er.
Red
: Ordinary standby.
Green : Timer standby.
Off
: The unit is On.

POWER key (For U.S.A. and Canada)
key (For other countries)
Press to set the unit to On or Standby.
