2-3 REMOVING THE MOD DRIVE (CONTINUED)
Refer to this section only if REPLACING A WORM DRIVE.
1. Disconnect the cable from the Pioneer drive to the Optical Disk Controller Board situated in the back of the
SCSI tray. (Refer to Illustration 2-3.)
2. Loosen the bottom screws holding the standoffs and remove the metal plate and the optical disk controller
board from the SCSI tray. Leaving the board on the SCSI tray will create problems with the loop of the ribbon
cable to connect to the MOD drive.
3. If the computer holds two Wren disk drives side by side in the back of the computer, rearrange the ribbon
cable so that there is a socket available for the MOD drive on the front (Illustration 2-3-B):
a. Disconnect the socket in the back of the Wren drive on the left.
b. Loosen the bottom screws and remove the Wren drive on the left
c. Stretch out the ribbon cable underneath it and route to the front so the 50-pin connector J2 (Illustration 2-
5) of the new MOD drive is accessible to the free connector.
d. Put the Wren drive back into place and reconnect the SCSI cable with a free connector.
3. Cut the tie wrap holding the power cable wires together to reach the power connection of the new drive.
