Installing IF Cables
b
Connecting an RFU to an IDU
 Bind the IF cable first to prevent its type-N connector from being pulled out.
 Make drip loops for IF cables below the RFU and near a room entry.
1.7 N· m
Waterproof the connector. For details,
see "Waterproofing Outdoor
Connectors".
IF jumper
 If the equipment is configured with N+1 protection, the IF cable connecting to the RFU that provides the active
channel is connected to the IF jumper from the main IF board. The IF cable connecting to the RFU that
provides the standby channel is connected to the IF jumper from the standby IF board.
 If the XPIC function is enabled on the IF boards, the IF cable connecting to the vertically polarized RFU is
connected to the IF jumper from the IF board that processes vertically polarized waves, and the IF cable
connecting to the horizontally polarized RFU is connected to the IF jumper from the IF board that processes
horizontally polarized waves.

Grounding IF Cables
Select ground points.
a
The place about 0.5 to 1 meter (1.64 ft to 3.28 ft ) away from
the cable entry of the equipment room or outdoor cabinet
The place on the roof edge about 1 meter (3.28 ft ) away from
the turning point of the wiring ladder
The middle point of the cable (when the cable is longer than 60
meters (197 ft ))
The ground point depends on the installation mode and the
length of the IF cable. Generally, the IF cable should be
grounded to a minimum of two points. When the IF cable is
longer than 60 meters (197 ft), add a grounding point for every
extra 30 meters (98.5 ft).
As recommended in ITU K.56, the IF cable does not need to be
separately grounded under the RFU if the RFU is properly
grounded.
Install the ground clip.
Select the installation position of the ground clip and strip off the cable sheath.
