2.3 INSTALLATION
Before i n s t a l l i n g t h e module and connecting t h e c a b l e , t u r n a l l equipment
power OFF.
INSERTING/REMOVING MODULES WHILE POWER I S APPLIED
C O U L D RESULT IN DAMAGE TO MODULE COMPONENTS.
The MVME710 c a n b e i n s t a l l e d wherever appropriate i n any double height VME
chassis and i s secured i n place w i t h screws a t t h e t o p and bottom o f the f r o n t
panel. T h e form f a c t o r o f the MVME710 i s such t h a t t h e depth o f the module i s
approximately h a l f o f a standard VMEmodule. T h e r e f o r e , t h e MVME710 d o e s n o t
connect i n t o t h e backplane o f the VME chassis.
The MVME710 connects t o t h e MVME332 v i a a 64- p i n ribbon cable t h a t i s p l u g g e d
into t h e P2 connectors on t h e MVME710 and t h e MVME332. M a k e c e r t a i n t h a t Pin
1 on t h e cable a l i g n s w i t h Pin 1 on t h e connectors. P i n 1 o n t h e c a b l e i s
i d e n t i f i e d b y t h e red s t r i p e along t h e edge o f the ribbon cable.
Once i n s t a l l a t i o n i s complete, t u r n t h e equipment power ON.
