    Getting Started Step 1: Hooking up the system Perform the following procedure 1 to 4 to hook up your system using the supplied cords and accessories. Right speaker DHC-MD595 rear panel Connect the speakers. Connect the speaker cords to the SPEAKER terminals on the unit and to the terminals on the speakers as below.

If the plug of the power cord does not fit your wall outlet, attach the supplied adaptor on to the plug (for models with a plug adaptor).

    Step 2: Setting the time You must set the time beforehand to use the timer functions. The clock is on a 24-hour system for the European model, and a 12-hour system for other models. The 12-hour system is used for illustration purposes.

    Showing the time In consideration of reducing standby power, this system can select whether or not to display the clock in standby mode. The system is set at the factory to not display the clock when the power is off (Power Saving Mode). To display the clock even when the power is off, press DISPLAY or TIME while the power is off.

The frequency indication changes and the scanning stops when the system tunes in a station. “TUNED” and “STEREO” (for a stereo program) appear.

    Basic Operations Playing a CD To turn on the system, press ?/1 (power). MD/CD .m/M> ?/1 (power) FUNCTION Press CD Z and place a CD on the disc tray. With the label side up. When you play a single CD, place it on the inner circle of the tray.

    Recording a CD on an — CD-MD Synchro Recording You can make a digital recording of a CD on an MD, marking track numbers in the same sequence as the original CD. In addition to normal-speed recording, you can also record at high speed (approximately four times the normal speed).
